Remington 9.3×62 Ammunition
By Richard
Remington introduced another new load to the 2011 line up: the 9.3×62. The 9.3 is one of two calibers (the other being the 7×64 Brenneke) of European descent added to the Core-Lokt line this year.
The 9.3×62 uses a 286 grain pointed soft point bullet (Spitzer-shaped) with a ballistic coefficient of 0.400. At the muzzle, the bullet is travelling at 2360 fps and generating 3536 ft-lbs of energy.
The 9.3×62 is more than 100 years old, and was popular with many colonists in Africa. In modern times, European and North American hunters have used rifles chambered for the 9.3 for short range hunting. Some people compare the 9.3×62 to the .35 Whelen cartridge.
I’m only aware of one modern firearm in the US chambered for the 9.3×62: the CZ550 rifle, a beautiful traditionally styled bolt rifle imported by CZ-USA. It has a blued finish and walnut stock.
